In our Level 2 workshop workshop, we show people a very simple way to build their skills and achieve eventual Talent. Here is a list of ways improve yourself faster and build your skills into great Talent.
Learn new skills, get training, read the books, watch the videos, do the workshops.
Be open to trying newer, better, faster, easier ways of doing things.
Practice, practice, practice your existing skills into Talent, then practice it more into mastery.
Do more things yourself, rather than defaulting to assistance.
Ask for help when you can’t do it well yourself
Outsource what you cannot do, or do well, or don’t have the time to do.
Welcome problems as an opportunity to put your skills into practice – you’ll never know how skilled you are, until you use your skills to solve a problem.
Embrace failure as a beautiful opportunity to know where you went wrong and what skills to improve — rather than it being the “End of the World”. Always remember: a setback is a setup for a comeback.
Let go of perfection. It’s an impossible goal that will always make you feel not good enough. Talent is only ever doing things to the very best of your ability … at the time.
Be kind to self as you improve yourself. Be patient. Don’t beat yourself up for mistakes. Laugh at yourself often. Never put yourself down for trying. Let go of frustration and anger.
Never underestimate the skills and knowledge you already have. You are way more Talented than you realise. So many of the skills you take for granted, are often way beyond the abilities of many people — if not most people.
Let go of “Impostor Syndrome” — the belief you’re not good enough or qualified enough, to do, or to teach, or be paid well for what you do. Never assume your expertise is not valuable. There will always be someone who doesn’t have the capability you have, and they will benefit greatly from what you can do well (and often take for granted).
Compliment yourself whenever you achieve anything good – no matter how big or small – by literally patting yourself on the back (chest) and saying, “Good job. Well done!”.
Cut ties with people who criticise, mock, or limit your attempts to be a better version of yourself.
Accept compliments from others – you earned it – but graciously and humbly.
Careful how you practice, because bad practice creates bad habits that can be really hard to break. Seek out a mentor, so you learn skills in the right way, so you practice them into good habits, to eventually create unconscious competence — you can do it really well without even having to think about it (Talent).
Seek mentors who already have the skills you need and the success you want, but have also been where you are now, so they understand what it takes to get to where you want to go.
Join groups/clubs that share your passions.
Mastermind with people who support you, welcome your success, and have positive mindsets (Our online Community).
Take the journey: learn how to do more things yourself (techniques), then learn how to do them well (abilities), then really well (skills), then exceptionally well (Talent), then at a level of greatness (Mastery).
