I care. I really do. I care about findtruepurpose.com, I care about my members, and I care about the content I create. But … when it comes to caring, I try not to care too much, because caring too much will stop you from being a successful passionpreneur! And here's why.
We should all be caring and respectful. That goes without saying. But you have to be wary of caring too much, because that's not care, that's worry, and worry is fear. And fear is the one thing that will sink a passionpreneur’s ship faster than you can say, "Hey! Where did all my success go?!".
Fear is an automatic subconscious reaction to life that runs beneath your conscious awareness and without your conscious consent. It's a sneaky and insidious, self-sabotaging, success-sucking, purpose-killing program. It runs on irrational fear such as your fear of change, fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of rejection, etc, and is the primary force behind anxiety, worry, stress, indecision, procrastination, self-criticism, failure, self-doubt, jealousy, confusion … it’s a very long list. And because fear is so subconscious, it's the biggest problem most people don't even know they have.
In short, caring too much = worry = fear = self-sabotage = bad passionpreneur.
So, being a passionpreneur, I care ... but not that much. I maintain just enough care to make sure I honour my responsibilities, be a good person, do a good job, and respect others. But I try not to let things worry me, or be too concerned about anything, worry to much about outcomes, or take life too seriously.
And the trick to that is having a good sense of humour, because humour kills fear. Instead of getting all worried and antsy about things, I just try and laugh it off. I laugh at myself and my mistakes. I try and find the funny side of things in this crazy world we live in. I don't watch TV (the worst fear program). I only watch funny, uplifting, or educational content on YouTube. I only hang around light-hearted funny people. I subscribe to every comedy channel I can find. I collect funny memes.
Humour = light-heartedness = less fear = more success = good passionpreneur.
And I know maintaining a sense of humour in a world of pessimistic negativity, is not an easy thing to do. Believe me! I know! The pessimistic and grumbly negative normies of this world don't like the "shiny happy people”. That’s because "shiny happy people" emit conscious positivity, and conscious positivity is the exact opposite of fear’s subconscious negativity. One cancels the other out.
Which would be a good thing, except the average person has built their life on fear. The average person (you, me, and everyone else) has subconsciously suppressed who they are as a person, and limited what they want to do in life, in order to satisfy various levels of deep subconscious fear they've had since early childhood. Fear is the true endemic of modern society. It's everywhere.
So, if you are a "shiny happy person", and you go around being all upbeat and humorous, not seeming to care that much about anything (cos ya happy), your conscious positivity threatens the average person's fear-based grumpy existence that they've built their life around. And to "fight back", those people will subconsciously "attack you" with worry and concern, to make you feel more worried and concerned, so you "come back down" to their level of seriousness, so that everyone is "safe, same, and sane" in the tribe again.
And to do that, they'll question your direction, bring up every kind of worrisome future-possibility, remind you of all your past mistakes and failures, or tell you a series of stories about everyone they know who did something similar and failed.
They don’t do that consciously, nor do they mean to be mean. It's all done subconsciously and unwittingly. It's just their subconscious fear program trying to make sure you're “safe”. Fear is what they "know", it has kept them "safe" (limited and suppressed) for decades, and so fear is what they want you to know, and where they want you to be.
They care too much about you (concern = worry = fear). And they want you to care too much about yourself (be concerned = worried = fear).
That’s just human nature – caring to much (worry, concern, seriousness, anxiety, hesitation, indecision, etc) about everything. It has kept them in a subtle yet constant state of deep subconscious fear, and it will also keep you in a subtle yet constant state of deep subconscious fear ... if you let it. If you let other people's worry and concern get to you, it gets on you, then in you, and that fear will limit what you do, and suppress who you are, and it's impossible to achieve greatness if you do that.
Care not; be great. Care too much; be nothing much.
And I used to care way too much. I'd care way too much about what people thought of me, or said to me, or did around me. That just hurt me, which ended up hurting those around me, so I stopped doing it. Now I care ... but not that much. I can't, because I am a passionpreneur, and I know that if I care to much, it will activate fear, and fear will subtly and sneakily suck the satisfaction and success right out of my purpose. I don’t want any part of that!
Plus, if you study the habits of those who've already lived a life of great purpose (and not just wealth and success but a great and noble purpose), you will find they all share the same values:
- They care … they really do … but not that much.
- They rarely take anything too seriously unless it’s required (important meetings, health and wellness, funerals).
- They have a great sense of humour and a light heart.
- They mostly brush off seriousness and go play golf instead.
That’s why they’ve lived such a great purpose. And I want every part of that!
