For those who have been following me for a while, you may have noticed the website now has a whole new focus and direction. That’s because I found my true purpose again. So, let me tell you a little story about how I lost my own purpose, how I found it again, and how that experience has led to this big change.
Back in 2015, I developed a process that helped people find their true purpose in life. I shared it with a few people, ran a couple of workshops about it, but eventually moved on to other things. Consequently, that process got put into the bottom drawer, where it sat gathering dust for nine years.
But in February 2024, I had some friends visit, and one of those friends was a little stressed about what to do in life. So I said, “Hey, I have this purpose-process that might help, would you like to try it?”. He said, “Sure” and so we sat down, got out a piece of paper, and I showed him the purpose-process I developed back in 2015.
The purpose-process immediately confirmed to him that the new direction he was planning to take in life, was not actually the right direction for him. What it did instead, was confirm what he already intuitively knew he wanted to do with his life, deep down, but life itself had just gotten in the way! His partner was watching all this unfold, and so she also decided to do the purpose-process, except she got confirmation she was already on the right path, which she thought was amazing!
And so, for the next three or four days, we talked about their results, and the process itself, and had a wonderful time. Eventually they had to return home, so I bid them farewell, and went back to doing what I was doing, which was working on a "very esoteric meaning of life" YouTube channel.
That channel was an intense amount of work. I was spending about 60 to 70 hours a week writing, creating, and editing videos about an out-of-body experience I had in 2003, trying to explain what was revealed to me during that experience. And although I loved it, and I put my heart and soul into it, and I was making progress, the progress was really really slow, there were all sorts of issues and dramas, and it was kinda wearing me down.
That’s when I thought to myself, “Hang on a second! Maybe I'm not living the right purpose in life? Maybe I should do my own process?”. So I did. I sat down, got out a piece of paper, and did the purpose-process I'd shown my friends a few weeks earlier. And lo and behold, it clearly showed me that I’d also lost track of my purpose. That really surprised me, because I was convinced I was on purpose, heading in the right direction, doing what I should be doing in life.
And in a way I was, but I’d completely lost track of what that true direction was, where it was supposed to go, and what my original plan was - and I didn't even know I was getting more lost and confused as the days went by.
This revelation shocked me. I couldn't believe it. I was the guy creating videos about the purpose of life, and yet here I was, lost and confused about my own damn purpose. It’s so ironic! So, in disbelief, I did the purpose-process again, and again, and again, hoping for a different answer. But, it just kept giving me the same answer, over and over again, and if anything, the answer got clearer and clearer. It showed me I’d lost track of my purpose, and was heading down a path that was not in my best interests, or the best interests of the people I was trying to help.
I’d instead gotten distracted by all the spiritual (non-religious) information, creating video after video trying to convince people of why they should find and follow their true purpose in life, rather than how to find and follow their true purpose in life. In other words, I’d gotten distracted by the information and not the transformation. That’s when I realised, I really needed to just get to the point, and focus more on the transformation workshops, rather than all the spiritual stuff. .
And isn’t that ironic?! I used my purpose process, to find my purpose, which is to use my purpose process, to help other people find their purpose. It’s soooo hilariously ironic!
Although, it did teach me a valuable lesson. It reminded me of what it feels like to lose track of your purpose and get stuck in life (especially as you get older), not even knowing you’d gotten lost or stuck, and it DOESN'T feel good at all! I certainly didn’t know I was stuck. I was too busy creating spiritual videos 60-70 hours a week! Yet, my life was silently slipping into a mysterious and depressing struggle - working harder and harder but not seeming to make any decent progress, feeling slightly more frustrated and miserable as each day went by.
I’d lost my way, which again, is soooo ironic, and a little embarrassing, as I’ve always prided myself on being the guy who follows his passions, and always knows what to do in life! Luckily for me, my friend's visit helped remind me of my forgotten purpose-process, I used it on myself, and got my true purpose back. And so, here I am, living that true purpose, everything in life is flowing again, and I am a WHOLE lot happier and more focussed. Yaaah!
