The True Purpose of Life

The true purpose of life is any lifestyle, business, or career that equally satisfies the essential needs of your mind. There are seven centres of the mind — but three of them are self-governing and kinda take care of themselves. There are ways to better manage those three centres when you live it — which we show you how to do in Level 2 and Level 3 — but when you're trying to find it, you only have to focus on the remaining four, which are Adventure, Talent, Passion, and Understanding.

Those four essential aspects of the mind represent the highest most-positive ways to live your life. And since they pretty much govern everything you think, feel, and do — if you satisfy them, you satisfy everything. Every aspect of your life becomes better.

And so I’d like to show you what each one of those four aspects are, how to live them in your own life, and how living them will not only lead to a life of greatness, but they’ll also make you feel amazing. And it all starts with Adventure, so let's start with that.

Adventure

Adventure doesn’t mean you have to climb mountains or bungee jump off a cliff. Adventure is simply stepping out of your comfort zone. And that means breaking your routine by trying new things, doing things differently, exploring your world, taking a chance on life, investing in your dreams, and so on.

And that’s different for everyone. For some people, the greatest adventure they can handle right now is going out in public to get a new haircut. For others, it might be selling everything they own, moving their entire family to Iceland, and starting up a geo-thermal-powered organic goat cheese factory! It’s whatever you can do, and whatever you can handle, to add more excitement back into your life.

And your adventures need to be exciting otherwise you just won’t do it. That's because excitement is the only force powerful enough to overcome the deep subconscious fears that have previously held you back from doing it. Those fears include the fear of not enough, fear of change, fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of rejection, and so on. It’s a very long list.

Therefore, if you choose to do something that really excites you, and the excitement is greater than your fears, the excitement will overpower your fears, so you actually get out there and do it. And you’ll still feel the fear as you do it, because fear is a natural part of any new adventure. But because you’re so excited about doing it, and excitement is slightly more motivating than fear, you’ll feel the fear and do it anyway.

And that’s why adventure is so exhilarating. Because exhilaration is the feeling of greater excitement mixed in with a little bit of fear, otherwise known as butterflies in the stomach thrill of adventure — the excitement of new things and change. Not only is that a really fun way to face your fears and overcome them, but it will also add a lot more exhilaration, wonder, and discovery into your life.

Talent

Talent is doing things to the very best of your ability. It’s not competing with others to be the best. It’s competing with yourself to be the best you can be. And Talent is created by continuously learning new techniques and bettering your skills, so you just get better and better at what you do, to outgrow yourself and your abilities, and eventually become great at what you love to do.

And mostly because it’s such a fun challenge to see how good you can get at doing something — the joy of personal accomplishment and success. But being good at what you do also helps you do everything easier, do a lot of it yourself, solve problems, overcome failure, and accomplish your goals — so you actually enjoy what you do!

In other words, Talent isn’t how good you are at doing something; it’s how much you enjoy the journey of continuously getting better at it. And that could be sculpting a great artwork, or sharpening a pencil. It doesn’t matter. If you enjoy it, and want to get better at it, it qualifies as a talent. And that journey towards more and more talent, will add a lot more capability, self-confidence, and success into your life.

Passion

Passion is doing what you really want to do, in the ways you really want to do it, rather than doing what others prefer, expect or demand you do — just to keep them happy, fit in, be liked more, or avoid conflict. That’s not being selfish — that’s being true to self.

You are an exceptionally unique individual. Never in the history of all humankind has there ever been, or will there ever be, a single other person like you on the planet. Nobody can possibly ever have the same combination of personality, interests, perceptions, skills, or life-experience that you have — ever.

Therefore, you really have no choice but to do things in your own unique way — because you are so unique. It’s just who you are as a person. If you fight that sovereignty by conforming to the norm, or living your dreams in ways that keep other people happy, it will only create depression and resentment.

Obviously, you still have to honour your responsibilities and roles; and respect the rules of society. But, you have every right to be yourself, and express yourself in ways that best suit who you are as a person. Because that’s what adds originality, creativity, innovation, and exceptional talent to the world — and a whole lot more fulfilment, individuality, and impact back into your life.

Understanding

The word “understanding” means “under where you stand”, which is the Earth, and the experience it holds. In other words, Understanding comes from experience. It should not be confused with knowledge. Knowledge is just an opinion, based on what you think you know, or what you've learned from others, or the supposed-facts of society. Understanding comes from applying that knowledge to prove to yourself if what you know is actually true for you or not in real life — for that is the only real truth.

So much of what others believe is true for everyone, is not actually true for you. And so much of what you believe is true for you, is not actually true for everyone. There is only your own truth gained from your own lived-wisdom. That would be the simplest definition of Understanding — I understand myself because I understand what is true for me.

As you gain more of that understanding, you gain a clearer direction in life, a more personal focus, an individualised purpose. You get your purpose back because you know who you are. You can then let go of the opinions and beliefs of others, and instead follow a path in life you know is true for you. All of which will add a lot more certainty, purpose, and understanding into your life.

Joy

That’s the four aspects of purpose covered. Now lets get to the heart of the matter — how it makes you feel. Because living any one of those aspects will make you happier. But if you can find something to do in life that equally satisfies all four aspects at once — you’ve hit the jackpot. Because that’s a true purpose, and that’s going to make you feel amazing.

If you live a balanced life that equally favours all four aspects of Adventure, Talent, Passion, and Understanding, you’re going to feel the effects of more:

  • Exhilaration, wonder, and discovery (Adventure)

  • Capability, self-confidence, and success (Talent)

  • Fulfilment, individuality, and impact (Passion)

  • Certainty, direction, and purpose (Understanding).

And when you combine all of that together, you will feel the master feeling of joy.

Joy is an amazing feeling. At its least, it’s a feeling of contentment, peace, and happiness. But at its height, it’s a blissfully purposeful feeling that can fill your eyes with tears of joy, and make you grin like a crazy person.

Love

But joy is only half of the feel-good picture. The other half is love. And not the lovey-dovey, kissy-kissy, Valentines Day version of romantic love. But love in the sense of you love what you do, and that happens anytime you share your true purpose with others, to help them in some way. And a true purpose gives you a lot of ways to do that:

  • Your Adventurous spirit can be used to excite and encourage people!

  • Your Talents can be used to skilfully-assist and serve people!

  • Your Passions and unique self-expressions can be used to creatively inspire people!

  • Your Understanding and personal truth can be used to enlighten and mentor people!

  • And your Joy itself, can be used to uplift people!

And when you share yourself with others like that, the sharing is a lot more about them, and a lot less about you. And when you take your self out of the picture, you remove the ego of self and its inherent negativity out of the sharing. And with less negativity, the feeling of joy within you naturally shifts to a much higher vibration of emotion, which you experience as the feeling of love. You feel love, and the people you help will feel loved.

That’s how you love what you do (literally). You’ll also love sharing it all with others, they’ll love what you share, and they’ll love you back for sharing it. You’ll even love yourself more as you share it. Love, love, love.

And it’s often not even recognised as love. Most people just assume they’re feeling good because they’re helping someone, or they feel good because someone is helping them. But that feel-good feeling is love. And you'll feel it any time you share your Adventurous, Talented, Passionate, Understanding qualities with people, as you help them — in your true purpose career, business, pastime, hobby, or mission.

In other words, love is simply sharing your best self with another, to help them be a better version of themselves. And that applies whether you are a parent raising a child, or helping a friend in need, or serving a customer at work. When you help them, you love them. Which is probably the truest and simplest definition of love I can think of.

And love is as equally amazing a feeling as joy but it’s grander. At it's least, loving-service will make you feel helpful, supportive, and important. But at its height, loving-service will add so much purpose and meaning to your life, it will also fill your eyes with tears of joy —except they’ll be tears of fulfilment, purpose, and appreciation.

Conclusion

In conclusion: the true purpose of life is to find something to do in life that equally satisfies the four primary needs of the mind — Adventure, Talent, Passion, and Understanding. That equates to any lifestyle, business, or career that excites you, which you can do to the very best of your ability, in your own unique way, to find your own true path in life, so you not only enjoy what you do, you also love what you do.
