I help people find their True Purpose in life and I mostly deal with passionpreneurs- people who want to turn their passion into a business or a career. These are the creative types, entrepreneurs, artists, performers, inventors, healers, visionaries, and so on.
Basically anyone who wants to break away from the the 9-5 grind of a soulless job, and make a living out of doing what they love - whether that’s a full-time, part-time, or after-hours income.
The Problem
And here’s the problem I’ve noticed with with most passionpreneurs:
They often don’t know what to do as a career, or they kinda do know but aren’t 100% sure, or they just can’t seem to get started ... and it’s driving them nuts!
Passionpreneurs need to be out there expressing their passion, doing what they love, having fun, making a difference, leaving a legacy. If they don’t, it makes them anxious, bored, frustrated, depressed, and confused about life. And if they don’t know what to do, they often “give up and give”, taking whatever soulless job best pays the bills, or doing whatever keeps other people happy, or playing the roles society deem “more appropriate”.
But those roles don't feed the soul. On the contrary, they starve the soul of freedom, expression, and joy, and passionpreneurs hate it! They’ll put up with it for a while, even years, but they’ll eventually develop a subtle yet constant nagging dissatisfaction with the 9-5 grind of their soulless job.
And if that’s you, don’t feel bad. Welcome to the club! Studies around the world all agree that the average worker gives there job about a 6/10 score for happiness. They’re not outright miserable, but not particularly thrilled about it either. It’s a case of, "Meh. It’s OK. It pays the bills" kinda response - which is just another saying, “I have a subtle yet constant nagging dissatisfaction with the 9-5 grind of my soulless job.”
What is the Soul?
Now let’s have a quick chat about what the soul actually is. Because I don’t do the mainstream career-guidance thang. I take on more of a spiritual angle. And not new-age or religious, but more of an esoteric point of view. Because we are dealing with the mind here after all, and the mind is a spiritual force. That makes passionpreneurship just as much a spiritual journey as it is a business venture or career.
There are two versions of the soul. There is the human soul (with a lower case “s”) and there is the higher Soul, (with a capital “S”). The human soul represents the good in all people. The Soul is the higher part of ourselves that guides us – often referred to as the Higher Self, the Universe, or the Divine. The “bigger” Soul feeds the “little” human soul, to ensure it’s little soul changes, grows, and evolves.
To achieve that, the Soul constantly transmits messages into a person’s body-heart-mind, to inspire that person to exceed their own potential, achieve greatness, become a better person, and help others do the same. It’s that deep inner urge we all have to do more, be more, and live life to the fullest.
The Soul’s message is very subtle, so many miss it, but the Soul’s message is constant, so many have felt it at some point in their life. It’s that feeling you get in your gut to do certain things or avoid doing other things (follow your gut). It’s that joyful feeling you get when your heart is telling you to do something (follow your bliss). It’s the subtle knowing/feeling or intuition of the mind (follow your intuition).
If a person follows their gut, heart or mind; that Soulful guidance will lead them to a series of synchronicities, people, and events; that will help them live new experiences (Adventure), gain or improve their skills (Talent), be truer to themselves (Passion), and gain a deeper understanding (Wisdom). That leads to happiness and fulfilment (Joy), and gives a lot to share with others (Love).
If they miss or dismiss those gut-heart-mind feelings - like so many people do - those opportunities will pass them by, and they will instead stick to their old ways and remain unfulfilled. And if they do that, the lower vibration of their unfulfilled human soul, will clash with higher vibration of their Soul’s constant guidance, and they will feel a subtle yet constant nagging dissatisfaction with their current life choices. Especially if they’re living a soulless job, 40 plus hours a week!
The Passionpreneur Soul
Passionpreneurs have “a lot of soul”. They have very wise and powerful Souls, which makes them great human souls. That’s why they’re passionpreneurs, and why they’re often inspired to be unique, alternative, or even rebellious, etc. They don’t want to do follow the rules, and do what everyone else does. They want to challenge the rules, be themselves, and follow their own path.
And that makes them different ... really different. They are the “beautiful freaks” of this world. They don’t “fit the mould” and so don’t “fit in”, and life just doesn’t make sense to them.
Consequently, passionpreneurs don’t function well in the 9-5 grind of soulless jobs, especially if they’re surrounded by soulless workers, and dictated to by soulless bosses. It crushes their soul. And like we said earlier, they’ll do it, and they’ll put up with it for a while, maybe even for years - because “ya gotta pay the bills” - but eventually, it will grind them down, until they feel a subtle yet constant nagging dissatisfaction with their soulless job.
And that’s their choice, and the Soul has to respect that. As much as the Soul has the power to step in and intervene, it has to step back and allow its human-self to make its own choices - no matter how much the job is depleting them. However, the Soul can nag them - and it does ... constantly. But the Soul’s nagging has to be very very subtle, so that it doesn’t interfere with a person’s free will. It’s like a subtle hint, versus direct intervention - again, a subtle yet constant nagging dissatisfaction with their soulless job.
The Soul knows they’re going to a spend a third of their life in bed, and a third of their life at work, and so it’s going to constantly nag them to at least buy a comfortable mattress and live a great career!
The Sad Irony
And here’s the sad irony about all this. It’s money that keeps most passionpreneurs stuck in a soulless job – and fair enough. Life is built on the exchange of money, and you can’t do much without it.
Plus, passionpreneurs also have to deal with the pressures and responsibilities of the 4 M’s - Marriage, Mortgage, Money, and Munchkins (children). These are the things that makes us go, “MMMM!”. Think, C+C Music Factory and their song, “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm. As in, “Oh I’d love to do that but MMMM! I still have to pay off the mortgage, honour my partner’s needs, pay the bills, and raise my kids.”
However ... if those same people ever decided to pursue their True Purpose as a career, not only would that satisfy the four primary aspects of their mind for greater joy and success, it would also align them with the four primary energies of the Soul for greater guidance and opportunity.
Their greater joy and success would feed their human soul and keep them going. The greater guidance and opportunity from their Soul would show them the fastest easiest way to get there.
That’s a powerful combination, and it has every chance of leading them to a career capable of making just as much money, if not more money than they ever would in a soulless job. Heck, if they were willing to make all the courageous choices and changes required to live their True Purpose as a career, they’d eventually exceed the incomes of their bosses or CEO’s. And as we say, "Satisfaction guaranteed, or twice your negativity back!"
But It Aint Easy!
But being a passionpreneur isn't easy. Trust me, I know! I've been a passionpreneur all my life. Sure, I’ve had a lot of soulless jobs in-between the pay for the dream, but passionpreneurship has been my primary focus since 1992. And I’ve mostly done it as a full-time living, and done it in some of the hardest professions in the world to make a full-time living out of, such as stand-up comedy, blues music, freelance design, alternative therapy, online entrepreneurship, and more.
It takes a lot of courageous choices, self-determination, sovereignty, and tenacious optimism to be a passionpreneur - especially in a world that seems to favour the opposite. But when things get tough, I always remind myself, “Sure. It's a challenge. It aint easy. But what else am I going to do? Go back to the soulless workplace and hang out with the other negative normies? No Thanks. Been there, done that, didn’t work?"
And I urge you to ask yourself the same question. Are you a passionpreneur. If so, are you going to continue in the soulless workforce, deplete the soul? Or are you going to take a chance, live your dreams, and feed your soul! I know that’s a loaded question, but please think about it.
